THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF ANWAR ALI

FROM YFC RURKA KALAN TO INDIAN FOOTBALL STAR

Anwar was 10-11 years old when he first set foot in the YFC Academy. Little did anybodyknow that this young lad from a modest family of Rurka Kalan would become one of thebiggest stars to emerge from Punjab at the National football scene. Anwar from the verythe beginning showed a gift for playing the beautiful game. Anwar got all the support from YFC like training, diet, kit and exposure to different levels of soccer being played in the region and at the national level. This helped in honing his talent and got him contracts with some of the more famous and legendary clubs of India.Anwar like most players started playing for the district team but graduated very quickly toplay for the U-16 team representing Punjab in the nationals. After that there was no lookingback for Anwar and he was inducted in the Punjab Police. After that he played for the JCT’sprofessional team. From there he got a contract to play for Dempo (2011) where he became the costliest defender to play for a club getting an unprecedented Rs. 1 crore for a 15 month contract.Anwar also played for India and has 35 caps to his credit. He was part of the Indian nationalteam that won the Nehru Cup in the year 2010. He also has the distinction to be part of the team which qualified for the Asia Cup. Presently, he plays for Sikkim United an I League club.Whenever he gets time from his busy schedule, Anwar comes and trains with the trainees at the YFC academy. He also interacts with the trainees and shares his life experiences withthem and encourages them to work hard to achieve their potential as players and as goodhuman beings. Anwar is a true youth icon and an inspiration for children and youngsters. His success, humility and the values that he represents are a source of pride for everybody at YFC. Anwar also regularly donates quite handsomely to YFC’s cause.
