There are two aspects to football at YFC Rurka
Kalan.
1. Amateur Club Team - The first aspect is its amateur team
that currently competes in the Punjab State League. This team is
entirely comprised of local village youths that tend to their farms
as a full time occupation but come together to play in the football
season. Results for the YFC for the YFC in the Punjab 2nd Division
2007-2008 can be viewed at the following link on Indianfootball.com,
India’s leading football site -
http://www.indianfootball.com/local/pssd2007-08.html. The Youth
Football Club, Rurka Kalan, narrowly missed being promoted to the
Punjab Super Division for the 2007 season.

2. Youth &
Community Development - The second aspect of the YFC is it focus
on the youth development. This is where the YFC team of 40
volunteers spend most of their time and effort. Focus on youth
development is split between 25 cadets that reside full time at the
YFC Sports Hostel. All expenses for the 3 full time coaches, meals,
accommodation at the hostel, football kit etc are borne by the YFC.
The other aspect of youth development is the day trainees that come
in form the rest of village of Rurka Kalan and some neighboring
villages.
A team of 3 full
time coaches (including Jitender Sharma, formerly of the Chandigarh
Football Academy) are in charge of training the children.

Training routines
and sessions are divided between the children based on the age group
that they fall into.
